Henry Nguyen (Bơ),Senior Software Engineer, Building ReliableBackend Systems & Payments.

Why software engineering? Software engineering lets me build systems that people depend on, from payment gateways to the infrastructure quietly running underneath them.

I care about shipping the full lifecycle: planning, design, deployment and scaling, and about mentoring the engineers building alongside me.

My Experience

A quick ledger of where I've worked and what I shipped. The longer story lives further down.

  1. 2025

Recognized as Employee of the Year · UrBox

Awarded Employee Excellence Award 2025 at UrBox for outstanding contribution and impact.

  2. Jul 2023 - Jul 2024

    Software Engineer · Casso (payOS)

Led a team building and launching payOS, a payment gateway built on open banking APIs, reaching 6,000+ users within 8 months. Owned the full lifecycle — planning, design, deployment, scaling — and integrated with multiple Vietnamese bank APIs (OCB, MBBank, Vietinbank, BIDV, KienLongBank). Built and maintained payOS integration SDKs in PHP, Golang, .NET, Java and C#, and mentored junior developers.

  3. Aug 2022 - Jul 2023

    Software Engineer · Casso (VietQR.io)

Developed and maintained VietQR.io, a service generating payment QR codes from a single link, handling millions of requests daily. Implemented load balancing and server performance optimizations for high availability, and enabled multi-template customization for QR display links.

My Skills

Tools come and go, and every so often something new promises to make this craft obsolete. I've learned not to bet against it.

What keeps me going is curiosity, going deep where it counts while staying broad enough to adapt, and the habit of growing with whatever comes next.

My Journey in Software Engineering - Archive

Born on 03/03/2001 in Quảng Nam, Vietnam. Here's the timeline of how I got here, and where I've been building since.

I'm continuing to work on backend systems and payments infrastructure, staying close to the problems I enjoy most: reliability, scale, and integrations that other engineers depend on.

I'm also open to new opportunities where I can keep growing as a senior software engineer.

I was recognized as Employee of the Year 2025 at UrBox, a highlight in a career built on shipping systems that people actually use.

Around this time I was also closing out a long, formative run at Casso, having spent close to three years there across two products.

From July 2023 I led a team at Casso building and launching payOS, a payment gateway based on open banking APIs, reaching over 6,000 users within eight months.

I owned the full software lifecycle — planning, design, deployment and scaling — and integrated with several Vietnamese bank APIs including OCB, MBBank, Vietinbank, BIDV and KienLongBank.

Alongside the product work, I built and maintained payOS integration SDKs across PHP, Golang, .NET, Java and C#, and mentored junior developers joining the team.

At Casso I developed and maintained VietQR.io, a service that generates payment QR codes from a single link, handling millions of requests daily.

I worked full-stack on the product, implementing load balancing and server performance optimizations for high availability, and enabling multi-template customization for QR display links.

In August 2022 I joined Casso in Ho Chi Minh City as a Software Engineer, moving from Quảng Nam to take on full-time, on-site work on their products.

It was the start of what became a nearly three-year run across two products, VietQR.io and later payOS.
